On Addressing Colorism in the Latinx Community

  • Sunday, December 6, 2020
  • 1:00 PM 2:30 PM 13:00 14:30
  • Google Calendar ICS

Join us for a night of conversation surrounding colorism in the Latinx Community; in the United States and in Latin America. Colorism is an ongoing issue that can affect any community of color, and has damaging and lasting impacts in the countries and communities affected.

In this workshop we will examine the difference between the way race is understood in Latin America versus the United States, the meaning of race, nationality and ethnicity, the origins of how colorism came to be our current reality through European colonization, the inequalities that have resulted, and resources for unlearning our biases and addressing colorism with our family.
